

He attended Hillside Elementary and Bodmin College. He received credentials as a chartered accountant from the Rapids Results College in London and he also attained a certificate of management from the University of the West Indies.
At the age of 22, he worked at Yallahs Valley Land Authority until 1957 where he met his beloved wife Rhoda May Evans. He then worked for Marley and Plant Supplies Ltd. as an assistant Accountant. In 1957, he travelled to St. Kitts to manage a project for the company. He returned to Jamaica in 1959 from St. Kitts and continued to work with them until 1977. Later, he had the opportunity to manage a company called RSJ Factory that produced paper supplies. He then relocated to Negril where he worked at Negril and Green Island Local Planning Authority as a secretary manager until his retirement.
Raphael Evans was very active in the communities, wherever he lived. He served as the Charter President of the Kiwanis club of West St. Andrew, Jamaica and President of the Rotary Club of Lucea Hanover, Jamaica. These clubs were dedicated to improving the community via various projects for people who were destitute. He was also a member of Lucea Parish Church in Hanover where he initiated and played a leadership role for the men’s fellowship (The Brotherhood of St. Andrew).
Raphael Evans was very passionate about cricket, soccer, politics, and gardening. He also enjoyed reading, especially the Bible and writing sermons.
Raphael Ambador Evans passed away on April 7, 2023, in Tamarac, Florida at age 88. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, family member and friend to many. He is survived by his wife Rhoda May Evans of 63 years, his 3 children: Odele Nation, Cheryl Vassel, and Cornell Evans Sr., 7 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
Raphael Evans will be dearly missed; may he rest in peace.
