My Condolences thoughts and prayers are with the friends and family of Ray Carthy.  He was once my manager in Information Technology in South Florida.  He often said: "If it's not documented, it didn't happen".  In the world of technology, this was very important.  Great lessons were learned while working for him.  

John 16:22. “Therefore you too have grief now; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.

I had just (re)connected with Ray on Facebook after not having seen him for many years.The last time I saw him was when  he lived in Fort Lauderdale while visiting a friend who lived in Tampa.
   I met Ray through a good childhood friend and family  friend,Ted Chase. when lived in Boston. Ted and Ray were working on their own communications/tech business and we collaborated on an entertainment publication  for the black community. I remember spending a lot of time w/Ray hanging out and going to parties,listening to his much-needed sound advice  in my younger years.   I will never forget that, his laughter and beautiful smile .I know he will be dearly missed by those closest to him in these latter years and will forever wish I had the opportunity to see that smile  and hear his laughter,again.

Ray and I have been friends for over 30 years and we spoke the last Sunday in May. He was happy to have relocated back to Florida with the warm weather and new opportunities. Over the years we were able to sustain our friendship discussing our great love for music.  I will miss his friendship, conversation and enthusiasm for forward thinking,
 Rest in Power Ray. Until we meet again.

I will always remember his laugh.....Ray's ability to listen when others felt their worlds were falling apart and his generous and wholehearted  ability to offer comfort.   He was such a kind and gentle soul, taken from us way too early in life.   An intelligent and caring man, Ray is missed by those he met even for a short time. 

I first met Ray in High School, but really got to know him while I was working and living in Taiwan, seemingly the other side of the world.   We began a deep friendship through SKYPE and continued once I returned to the U.S, talking at length about current events, future aspirations and life's challenges.   I still hear and miss his voice.  I will never forget Ray Derek Carthy.   May you have found peace, Ray, dear friend.
