Rebecca Lynn Torres (Becky), 62, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida passed away peacefully on May 27th, 2021. Becky was born on August 26th, 1958 to James Raymond and Mildred Ann (Hughes) Oliver. She was the second oldest of 6 children.
Becky is preceded in death by her husband, Frank, of nearly 40 years whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her sons Frank (Brea) and Greg (Breanne), her grandchildren, Kaylee, Madison, Ellie, and Gabriel, her sister Pam (Richard), her brothers Brian (Laurie), Joey (Kathy), Jeff and Greg, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, friends and her beloved fur babies Sophie, Peanut, and Gangster.
Becky had an insatiable appetite for experiencing life which included long walks with her friends & animals, visiting theme parks & zoos, riding roller coasters, going on cruises, skiing, taking in a dance or theater show, boating and snorkeling, and hiking; particularly at Stone Mountain Park in Georgia. There was nothing Becky loved more than spending time with family and loved ones, spoiling grandkids, and watching a movie on the Hallmark channel. Becky’s house was a frequent stop for family, friends, and fur buddies, including neighborhood squirrels and other critters, who could be found running to Becky for their treat. This hospitality extended to family and friends in other states across the country where Becky was well known for traveling with several bags of snacks & fruits in Ziploc bags as well as treats for others’ fur babies. She was also renowned for making a “mean pot of coffee”.
Becky had the warmest smile and she was known by many as having “a heart of gold” as her husband Frank often described her. She will be missed by everyone who had the privilege to know her regardless of whether they walked on two legs or four.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, June 14th, 2021 from 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm. This will be followed by a Life Celebration Funeral Service for Becky starting at 5:30 pm. Both will take place at the chapel at Broward Burial and Cremation, 1801 East Oakland Park Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33306.
