

Gardner, Richard J., 76, of Plantation, FL passed away on February 20, 2011 in Florida. Born and raised in Oswego, NY he lived in the area until relocating to Florida years ago. He was a Firefighter with the Port Everglades having retired as a Captain after 28 years of service; he was also a Veteran of United States Marine Corps who fought in the Korean War, a father to two daughters. Mr. Gardner is preceded in death by his wife Lodine Gardner who passed in May of 2009, his sisters Dorothy, Marion, Marie, Betty, and his brother Earl.. He is survived by his sisters Dawn, Jean, and Patricia, and his brothers Bill and Brian. His Daughters Dawn Taylor and her husband Gilbert Taylor and Tracy Gardner; He is also survived by four grandchildren Jennifer, Kristin, Jeremy and Sabrina and two great-grandchildren Alyssa and Moses. Richard Gardner was a lifetime member of the Elks club, the VFW, the Moose, American Legion, and the Marine Corps. He was a hard worker, full of life and energy, loved his wife and family dearly, and enjoyed putting puzzles together, going out to dinner, traveling, and Bingo. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the honor to know and meet him. Richard Gardner touched the lives of many, and he passed away too young from a battle with Lung Cancer. May he forever rest in peace now; we love him and will miss him!! He is forever in our hearts.
