Rose Angela the eldest of five was born in Clarksburg West Virginia and grew up in the close-knit neighborhood of North View, where neighbors became family and lasting friendships were formed. As a young girl, she enjoyed helping her father at the family's ice cream parlor and spending time with her lifelong best friend, Mary Helen Purnell. Rose graduated from Notre Dame High School in Clarksburg in 1968 before attending Fairmont State College, where she proudly became a member of Alpha Xi Delta. Following college, she embraced adventure by traveling throughout Europe before working a variety of jobs, including waitressing in the Pocono Mountains.
Rose is survived by her devoted husband of more than 50 years, Jack Bennett, whom she initially met at Fairmont State College. Their love blossomed when they reunited in Fort Lauderdale together during spring break and married on July 5, 1975. They built a beautiful life together. She was the cherished mother of Marisa Bennett, Ryan Bennett and the proud and loving Nana to Christian Venturi and Logan Thomas, who were the greatest joy of her life.
Professionally, Rose found success as an art consultant with Art Finds and Native Visions Gallery. Her passion for art, beautiful landscapes, and helping others find meaningful pieces made her exceptionally successful. Her warm personality, competitive spirit, and genuine interest in people earned her numerous sales awards and the admiration of clients and colleagues alike.
Rose and Jack made their home in Wilton Manors, where they lived for many years and became an integral part of the community. As longtime residents, they built countless friendships. Rose was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church where her kids attended school. She cultivated lifelong friends through church, neighborhood gatherings, tennis, or simply visiting with friends. Rose treasured the connections she made and the community she called home.
Rose embraced every season of life with enthusiasm. She was an avid tennis player and later developed a passion for pickleball. She treasured social gatherings with friends, traveling, family vacations, including many memorable trips to River Ranch and annual visits back home to West Virginia, date nights with Jack, and the occasional excitement of visiting the casino.
Above all else, Rose's greatest moment was being a Nana. She was delighted to create games for the kids, prepare family meals, having the kids pretend to read bedtime stories to her, and watching Christian and Logan grow. Even after suffering a stroke, her love never wavered. She welcomed her grandsons into her bed for story time, played ball with them, and happily let them help her practice her speech. Her courage, perseverance, and unconditional love were an inspiration to everyone who knew her. She truly never met a stranger. Her warm smile, infectious laugh, and sincere interest in others allowed her to form friendships wherever life took her.
Though our hearts are broken, as the oldest of five children, her gift was making everyone feel like family, and her legacy will live on in the countless lives she touched through her kindness. We find comfort in knowing that Rose's legacy of love, friendship, faith, laughter, devotion to family and friends will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
