Samuel Thomas

Samuel Thadathil Thomas (Kunjumon), a quiet mannered faithful man of God was born on August 7, 1945 to the late Evangelist T.I Samuel and the late Mrs. Thankamma Samuel in Kidangannoor, Kerala, India. He was blessed to be born as the firstborn into a strong Christian Pentecostal family with three siblings; one brother (Samuel Pappachen) and two sisters (Kunjumol Kuruvilla and Lizy Varughese) of all who reside with their families in the US. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior, was baptized and lived a spirit filled Christian life as a member of the Sharon church Mezhuvelil. After finishing his pre-degree, he became a theological student for a year at Sharon Bible College in Thiruvalla.

At the very young age of 18, he boldly immigrated to the US by himself in 1963 to pursue his higher studies at the Olivet Nazarene University, Kankakee, IL in Chemistry. Shortly after, a scientific company sponsored him to work as a chemist until it abruptly closed. However, God helped him to pursue a successful career as a Medical Technologist in Chicago, Illinois. Besides education, he enjoyed jogging, especially early morning runs so much so that he trained and participated in at least 2 Chicago Marathons.

On March 23, 1972, he returned to Kerala and married Gracy Thomas, daughter of late Mr. and Mrs. P.C. Chacko, also known as “Kaviyoor Chacko” Cherutharayil, Kaviyoor. He helped his parents and all his siblings migrate to the US even though his beloved mother went to her heavenly home just before coming to the US.

Bro Kunjumon, as he was commonly known, was a loyal member of the International Christian Assembly of God Church, Chicago. In 1988, he relocated to Florida where his family joined him 3 years later. He continued to be a man of faith and member of the IPC Church of South Florida.

On June 6th, 2020, at the ripe age of 74, the Lord called him at 3pm to enter into his eternal heavenly abode forever. He is survived by his wife, Gracy Thomas; his children: Sunil Thomas, Dr. Sajeve & Dr. Nidhi Thomas, and Dr. Sam Thomas; grandchildren: Sanjana, Simran, Syon, and Saavan.

Acha has “fought the good fight, finished the race, and has kept the faith. Now there is in store for him the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge will award him on that day, not only to him, but also to all who have longed for his appearing”.

2 Timothy 4:7-8

He will be deeply missed. We find godly peace and comfort that our Acha is in the presence of God where there is no more tears, sickness, and the frailty of death.

A visitation for Samuel will be held Saturday, June 13, 2020 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home South, 2401 Southwest 64th Avenue, Davie, Florida 33317. A funeral service will occur Saturday, June 13, 2020 from 10:45 AM to 12:45 PM, 2401 Southwest 64th Avenue, Davie, Florida 33317. A committal service will occur Saturday, June 13, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens South, 2401 Southwest 64th Avenue, Davie, Florida 33317.

Samuel will be missed dearly.
