Sarah Lydia Alvarez, age 59, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida passed away on Wednesday, December 9th, 2020. Sarah was born on May 14th, 1961 to Edward Charles Hernandez and Yolanda Carmen Nodarse. She married Hector Ricardo Alvarez on May 21st, 1995. They celebrated 25 years of marriage.
She will join her beloved parents and her dog, Lucky, in heaven.
Surviving in addition to her husband is her son, Hector “Papo”, her eldest daughter, Jacqueline, her grandson, Keane, her twin daughters, Michelle and Leslie, her sister, Susan, her brother, Samuel, four nephews, two nieces, several cousins, and her dog, Heidy.
In high school, Sarah was inducted into Who’s Who Among American High School Students for excelling in her academics, extracurricular activities, and community service. Sarah dedicated years of her life to being a devoted administrator and educator. She had a generous heart and was especially interested in teaching children with special needs.
Sarah was a long time resident of South Florida and enjoyed the beautiful beaches that stretch the peninsula. She was a doting and loving mother and wife who enjoyed cooking delicious meals for them, especially her black beans that are still, today, the best black beans in the world. She was also an incredible artist, drawing stunning sketches of animals, people, and nature. You could find Sarah in the middle of the dance floor, dancing to merengue with her dear husband and four children.
The memorial service is from 12 PM to 2 PM on Sunday, December 13th, 2020, at the Forest Lawn South Funeral Home. There will be a virtual memorial service for those unable to make it in-person from 1 PM to 2 PM via this Facebook Live link: bit.ly/Virtual_SarahLydiaAlvarez.
