Sherrill “Tripper” Weaver White, III, 58, of Fort Lauderdale, FL passed away on April 19, 2022, surrounded by family and friends. Tripper was homegrown, born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on June 28, 1963. A very aggressive pancreatic cancer took him just shy of two short months.
Tripper embodied his name – he was a warm, sincere, caring, generous, and fun-loving man. As many have said, there will never be another Tripper, as he was truly one-of-a-kind and always the life of the party.
An avid outdoorsman, Tripper has been hunting and fishing since he was 5 years old. In middle school he started diving and was on the Fort Lauderdale Dive Team at the Swimming Hall of Fame competing in AAU dive competitions. He graduated from historical Stranahan High School in 1981, and then attended Auburn University on a dive scholarship where he earned an Agriculture and Education degree. Pursuing his love for fishing, Tripper once owned a fly-fishing business in Georgia and the Florida Keys.
Later developing a career in real estate, Tripper continued to support the cause by being a member of Ducks Unlimited Fort Lauderdale Chapter and chairing the 1990 and 1991 annual dinner and auction. A longtime member of the African Safari Club of Florida, he recently received the Lifetime Conservation Award. He additionally lived his passion by earning his 110-ton Captain’s License along with being a lifetime member of the Lauderdale Yacht Club, while chairing and serving on many committees. Additional membership organizations include the Fort Lauderdale Surf and Yacht Club, Pinion, Inc., as well as serving on the board of the Fort Lauderdale Snow Ski Club as VP of trips and social gatherings.
Tripper was preceded in death by Sherrill Weaver White, Jr., Anita Coke White (parents), and Austin Bartlett White (son). He is survived by his wife, Linda Rae Spaulding White, his son, Carter Thompson White, his sister, Vickie Gilman (Mark) and their children Madison and Bailey Rae.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 23rd from 3:00-6:00 PM at Lauderdale Yacht Club.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to the African Safari Conservation Auburn Scholarship Fund (he partially endowed) or Ducks Unlimited in memory of Tripper White. Please make your check payable to African Safari Club Conservation Fund, Inc. or Ducks Unlimited, and mail to Tom Sawyer, 1400 E Oakland Park Blvd #102, Ft Lauderdale, Fl 33334.
