I Thessalonians 4:13-14
“Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.” NIV
With profound sadness we announce the passing of Evangelist Sislyn Maud Carter, our loving and devoted mother.
Sislyn Maud Carter, age 77, who was known as “Sister Carter” and “Lynn” by church family and friends, departed her loving family to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 23, 2021.
Sislyn was born in Westmoreland, Jamaica on December 18, 1943 to Vastie Clarke and Gursham Clarke. She migrated to the United States in 1969 where she met and married Fitzroy Carter, Sr., her surviving spouse, in 1977.
Our beloved mother loved and served the Lord with all her heart and soul. A woman who also demonstrated that love, comfort, peace and caring to everyone she met in life. She truly exemplified the character and integrity of a true Christian, and all who knew her and met her saw the Christian love she embodied.
A Certified Patient Care Aid, Cosmetologist, and business owner, Sislyn was known for her munificence, gracious smile, and service to all. Her hobbies included cooking, baking, sending delectable Jamaican foods to loved ones across the country, reading the bible, planting mango trees and vegetables in her backyard, and generously sharing her bounty with all. She was most proud of her missionary work in the church and community, her family, and the beautiful life built through years of hard work and faith-driven perseverance and tenacity.
She was preceded in death by her mother Vastie Miller, father Graham Clarke, brother Roy Miller, and sister Enid Miller.
Sislyn is survived by her husband Fitzroy Carter, Sr.; children Prince Fenton, Patricia Craddick, Keron Cameron, and Fitzroy Carter, Jr.; grandchildren Gerard Fenton, Jordanna Fenton, Jade Fenton, Jamie Fenton, Christina Craddick, Desmond Cameron Jr., Dewayne Cameron, Duran Cameron, Alyssa Carter; and great granddaughter Anastasia Cameron Fache. She is also survived by her Daughter-in-law Orchid Fenton, Son-in-law Desmond Cameron, Sr. and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
We hope that we have made her proud in this life and that she can stand tall and say yes, this is my family, and maybe, if we can live the kind of life that she did, we will someday hear those same words she has experienced just days ago ... "Well done thy good and faithful servant," enter in and sup with me and rejoice in the Lord.
