From an early age, he was determined to become a doctor. His mornings often began at 4 a.m. to catch the school bus to attend Francisco Bravo Medical Magnet High School in Los Angeles, CA, where he was also a standout basketball player. Soon after graduating high school, Stephan journeyed to Nashville, TN to attend Fisk University, a Historically Black College and University (HBCU), where he studied Chemistry and joined one of the nation’s oldest and most distinguished Black fraternities, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. There, he emerged as “The Enigma” of the Alpha Chi Probate in 2001.
Stephan continued pursuing his dream of becoming a doctor with unwavering dedication, motivated not only by personal ambition, but by a desire to give back and care for the family who raised him. Remaining in Nashville, he attended Meharry Medical College, another prominent historically Black medical institution and one of the nation’s oldest private HBCUs. Grounded in his faith, he often shared messages about God, encouragement, and perseverance through his daily reflections, inspiring many along the way.
Late on April 30, 2026, Stephan was suddenly taken from us due to health-related complications. Left to cherish his memory are his parents Carol Morrison and Gerard Morrison; younger siblings, Brandon Hylton and Tiara Morrison; and countless cousins, aunts, uncles, relatives, friends, acquaintances, and Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity brothers.
Stephan embodied Black excellence in a way that inspired those around him and set an example for future generations to follow. Gone too soon, but your presence, impact, and memory will never be forgotten.
We will miss you, Dr. Stephan Morrison.
