Rest in Peace Tom. It was our pleasure to help you thru a very difficult time in your life. We had some good times! No more pain my friend.

Although I hadn't seen Tom since the "Totowa" days, he was a friend of mine from other friends that we both knew of.  I was in touch with him by phone since I moved to Florida 4 years ago, and I asked him to move up to central FL where I thought he might enjoy living.  His sister said that is what he talked about doing in the months preceding his passing-I hope I brought him some joy.  Tom was a quiet guy but talked with his tools.  He worked on my 280 Z back in the 80's and was quite the mechanic.  I want to go on record by saying that he is/was the only person that shared my birthday of 06-14-1958, and we were both born in the same hospital, St. Joe's in Paterson, NJ...
Flag Day.  I feel his loss already as one brother to another.  May he find that true tranquility and happiness we all look forward to in heaven. Rock On Wendel!!!

I too am sorry Tom has passed, We go back over 35 years, Tom was a true Mr. fix it. The things he fixed and the way he fixed them was creative to say the least, He was versed in every phase of construction, I was quite jealous of his talent, He was very quiet and low key about his gift, He always had a solution to any repair, Tom was also very gifted working on cars, I will never forget I had an old chevy that was sitting in a garage for over 20 years that was given to me and Tom got it running in less then an hour, the things he fixed for me our too numerous to mention, As i read these other posts , I  understand the MacGyver reference all to WELL! Tom also enjoyed fishing and the outdoors in general, He really enjoyed spending time with his best friend Jeff fromTotowa. One thing I will never forget he always hated tool belts with a passion, his said for most repairs it was all he needed was his pocket leatherman tool ,He took it everywhere!
There is no doubt in my mind his still has it with him and is fixing things , that no one else knows how to fix!!! R.I.P Tom  P.S. I still have your pocket flashlight you gave me , when the time is right it will be here for you burning bright.

We are sorry to hear that Tom passed. Our prayers are with his family. I've know Tom many years. He was a very brilliant man. I told him if I ever got stuck on a deserted island, that he would be the person I would want to be there. He was   "Sorta" like McGyver (spelling<-?) on that tv series! He could make anything work! We worked together for several months, restoring an older home we own. He did a fantastic job! We will miss you Tom. God bless you and keep you in his light.

Tom was a friend of our family, we met him through our son Rich and we all spent a lot of time together over the years. He renovated our condo back in the 90s and did a magnificent job. We spent many holidays together as I would have him over for dinner as his family was in NJ so he was alone some holidays when he couldn't make it up to NJ. He especially loved my meatballs and Italian food so I would always invite him over or send him some when I made sauce. He also shared his love of music with my husband and they went to concerts. When Ft Lauderdale had the air show Tom would set up the roof of the building with drinks, snacks, a boom box and a canopy so we could sit under it without the sun beating down on us while we watched the show. I called him McGiver because no matter what the problem was he could fix it on the spot. He was very talented and was an asset to anyone he worked for.
The last year was difficult for him and we spent much time supporting him but it was hard to see such an independent talented man unable to care for himself anymore because of this terrible disease. We will miss him. RIP Tom and if their is a way out of there I'm sure (McGiver) you'll find it :)xo

I first met Tom in Ft Lauderdale in the late ' 90's   ....he was in charge of maintenance for a building i was staying in...he fixed an air conditioning problem for me ...since it was during the summer....he was a savior....over time, we became friends and stayed that way right up until he passed.
 When I bought my condo on the beach,it needed a huge renovation and a lot of work. I hired Tom for the job.He single-handedly gutted the place and in maybe 4 to 5 months turned the condo into a showplace.   Everyone was blown away! Tom was gifted. It is with sadness that I write this ....may he rest in peace....and if the Lord does decide to waken him, it will be to help build palaces in heaven.....Mark Stein/Vanilla Fudge (Ft Lauderdale)

I worked with Tom. In the early 80s doing INDUSTRIAL REFRIGERATION with Frank Koch , Art Herrman. ,Jack Baumann ,Frank Zanfino .Don Cary.. and others   Tom was always a foreman and ran lots of big. Jobs and was quite the character to say the least.... all of us  stay friends all these Years some of us have left this world ... I will never forget the experiences I had with these gentlemen especially Thomas Scott Sanders I love you brother may Jesus himself come down and hold your heart next to his own while he carries you to heaven
