If anyone really cared for someone else, it would be Zerish Icilda Smellie. She was a warm-hearted, down-to-earth, and well-liked individual. She was someone who was always interested and involved in the lives of her loved ones and always made certain that those around her were properly cared for.
Zerish is the daughter of Harold and Hilda Wright, and was raised in Mountain Side, Jamaica. During her childhood, she learned to be reliable and respectful. Zerish was an obedient child, who naturally won the favor of others. She found it easy to show sympathy and to display acts of kindness towards all people. These admirable qualities became a part of Zerish's personality throughout her life.
Zerish was a lady of hospitality to both her family and friends. She had the ability to connect with people from all walks of life, no matter their background. Zerish was a woman who spoke her truth quietly and one who people were simply drawn to. She was a peacemaker with an ability to resolve all sorts of family conflicts. In fact, Zerish worked conscientiously to keep family spats at bay. Zerish was one of fourteen children, and although her and her siblings had the typical rivalries while growing up, they deeply cared for one another.
Zerish was a faithful and loving Christian, and one who was sentimental and a romantic at heart. Her kindness and consideration radiated an aura of warmth to those around her. She was a devoted and compassionate wife, who dearly loved her “sweetie", Fitz. In the same regard, her husband deeply loved and cherished her. Their love for each other was an inspiration to all and a marriage many would desire to emulate.
Zerish is survived by her sisters: Vida Wright and Sylvia McLaughlin, her brother Leslie Wright, many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. The Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00pm with the Funeral Service held at 1:00pm followed by the Burial. Zerish will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Although her light in this life has faded, in the hearts of her family and friends, her life light will always glow. Everyone whose she has touched will greatly miss her, but now Mrs. Zerish Icilda Smellie is at peace and dancing with her sweetie.
