JoAnn Frances Price, age 78, a 53-year resident of the Fort Mohave area, died on Monday, August 26, 2024. Her will to live was strong and she put up a good fight this last year. She knew her family would be with her in the end and they were. She was born on August 20, 1946 in Bristol, Virginia. She was the eldest of five siblings. Throughout her life, family was always important to her. After Joann's parents divorced when she was young, there were many years she cared for her siblings while her single mother worked. She has been in charge ever since. Happily her mother remarried and gave JoAnn the only father she ever knew and this also added three more siblings. During those years the family fondly remembers many camping trips with all eight children. She graduated from Lawndale High School in California in 1964. That is where she met her high school sweetheart. We knew Arnold was hooked when he put her name in glitter on his dashboard. Arnold and JoAnn married on April 17, 1965. They have been inseparable from that day forward.
In May of 1969 they were so happy to welcome their son, David. He was the light of their life and as a family they had many adventures together. They loved snow skiing, beach vacations, hunting, boating, jet skiing and so much more. In 1971 the family moved to Bullhead City, Arizona. Arnold and JoAnn had a successful cabinet business in this area for many years. JoAnn was also a real estate agent and loved helping people find their "forever homes". In 1974 JoAnn was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She has always been happy to share her faith with others. To add to her happiness, Arnold joined her in her faith as did their son David. David married in 1990 and brought Christina into their family. David and Christina had two children, Tyler and Kali. JoAnn loved being a grandma and spoiled those kids as much as she could. Sadly, in April of 1996, their only child David at 26 years old, passed away unexpectedly from complications of heart surgery. Words cannot express what a devastating blow this was to the family. JoAnn was inconsolable for many years. Having a strong faith that she would see David again and having Christina and the grandkids kept her going.
Years later, Christina who was more like a daughter to them, married Todd and he became another cherished family member. Todd was helping to raise David's children and Arnold and JoAnn were so thankful. Todd had a daughter, Kylie and Todd and Christina had a son, Brayden. Arnold and JoAnn were so happy to welcome more grandchildren. JoAnn lived a joyful life, always ready to help others. She was loved by so many. When she realized the end was coming she put on a brave face for everyone, especially her beloved Arnold. She didn't want him to suffer like she was. Christina and Todd and all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren made those last months happy ones.
JoAnn could be stubborn and as sick as she was, she wanted to ride her jet ski. The family was against this as it was very dangerous with her condition. So just a couple of months ago we got a video of her on the river filming while riding her jet ski one last time. That was her happy place.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her son, David Price; her parents, Jack and Millie Tipps; her brother, Tom Vance; and her niece, Tresha Vance. JoAnn is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Arnold; her daughter and son-in- law, Todd and Christina; her grandchildren, Tyler, Kali, Kylie and Brayden; her great- grandchildren, Jaxon, Kamryn and Karter; her sister, Nancy (Gary); her sister, Jackie; her brother, Barney (Donna); her sister, Nancy Jean; her brother, Terry (Leslie); her sister, Sherrie (Jeff); her sister-in-law, Janet; her sister-in-law, June; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a large loving spiritual family.
