Pat was born in Davenport, IA, on January 14, 1949, to Cassius “Mac” and Jean (Wold) McChesney. She graduated from St. Cloud Technical High School in 1967. Pat devoted her early years to raising her children, and in 1991 she met the love of her life, Ray DeZurik. The two were married on July 8, 1998, beginning a partnership filled with devotion, adventure, and community service.
Together, Pat and Ray were deeply involved with the American Legion. Pat proudly attended 25 American Legion National Conventions, served on numerous committees, and was a lifetime member of the Auxiliary. Her dedication to service was matched by her enthusiasm for casinos, and her joy in discovering a good bargain; whether at a garage sale or on Facebook Marketplace. Pat also enjoyed keeping up with the latest technologies and gadgets.
Pat loved her family above all else. Family meant everything to her, and she cherished every moment spent with them. In her final year, she fulfilled her dream of living full-time in Arizona. She will be remembered for her huge heart, infectious smile, outgoing personality, and her fantastic fish frys. Pat always wanted her “puppy fix,” sharing a deep love for animals, especially Buddy and Fifi. Anyone who met Pat carried a piece of her with them. She was truly unforgettable.
