Alfred was born to Alfred Rafanello and Elvira Rafanello (Tacangelo) in East Orange, New Jersey. He is survived by wife, Diane Rafanello, daughters, Krista and Jeana, and grandchildren Breana, Jordan and Lexis.
Known as “Al” or “Zeppy” to many, he lived a long and colorful life. He was extremely proud of his Italian heritage and wore it like a badge of honor. He worked most of his adult life for trucking companies and was an active member of his labor union.
Al loved dogs and had too many to count. He leaves behind his best canine companion, Coco. He was passionate about politics and had a “guy” for everything. Al enjoyed the sunny beaches of Florida where he could often be seen with a cold margarita in hand.
He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. A celebration of life will be planned for a time later in the year.
