Arthur Carroll Swain

Arthur C. Swain “Towhead” passed peacefully on July 26, 2022 at Hope Hospice. He was born in Parkersburg, WV on June 20, 1927 to Charles and Mamie Swain. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Charles Jr and sister, Doris. Towhead is survived by his three daughters, Michelle, Kelly and Deena and son, Peter Brush. He also leaves behind his loving wife, Greta. They would have celebrated 70 years of marriage in December. Tow has 8 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

He served in the US Navy during WWII, having been taken straight from graduation. He retired from Parkersburg Police Department as a Lieutenant with 25 years of service. He and Greta moved to Fort Myers in 1991 to manage a condominium resort on Sanibel Island. He trailered a 25 ft sailboat from WV and spent many wonderful times on the water. Traveling was Tow and Greta’s second love. They traveled to 27 countries and all over the United States. He loved his family and his dog, Rocky, dearly. He was a “Gentle Giant” and will always be in our hearts. A “Going Away” party will be held with his family and friends in Parkersburg at a later date.
