Barbara Adele Leonard (nee Schumacher), age 81, a longtime resident of West Bloomfield, Michigan and Fort Myers, Florida. Born May 9, 1938 in Waukegan, Illinois and passed away on January 23, 2020 in Fort Myers, Florida. Beloved wife of Richard for 43 years. Loving mother of Colleen (Dan) Kimmel and proud grandmother of Lily. Survived also by sisters Mary (Mike) Grieshaber, Virginia (Walter) Garcia, nieces and nephews, and many friends. Barbara was a first grade teacher in the Detroit Public Schools until her retirement in 1990 and she touched the lives of countless children. Barbara is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her gentle spirit and witty sense of humor. Funeral Mass to be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 6, 2020, at Saint Cecilia Catholic Church, 5632 Sunrise Dr. Fort Myers, FL 33919, with a celebration of life to be held at Lexington Country Club. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, February 15, 2020, at St. James Catholic Church, 46325 W. 10 Mile Road, Novi, Michigan followed by interment at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, 25800 W. 10 Mile Road Southfield, Michigan, 48033.
