She had younger siblings, Edward (deceased) and Margaret. Barbara was baptized in the Catholic faith at St. Patrick’s. She graduated from St. Patrick’s high school. Barbara was married to Matthew (deceased) almost 45 years. They had six children: James, Michael, Kimberly (Isherwood), William, Edward and Patrick. Barbara had fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to raising six children, Barbara operated a small service business from home that she and Matthew owned. Barbara and Matthew moved to Fort Myers in 1991. They continued the small service business, which is still thriving today. Barbara loved to visit with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Barbara also loved to play Bingo. So much so, her grandchildren dubbed her vehicle the “Bingo Bus!” Barbara also had a great love for the U.S.A. This was instilled by her father, who left Ireland to start anew. Her father would no longer allow Gaelic to be spoken and would only buy American made products. Barbara’s husband, five sons, and numerous other extended family members faithfully served in the United States Military during various past wars. Three of her grandsons are currently serving in uniform. In front of her Fort Myers home, she proudly displayed six flags; the National ensign and the service flags of her family members who represented them. Barbara loved to hear the “snap” of the flags as they were whipped by the wind, flown in such great honor.
