

Bernie was born in Rome, NY on April 3, 1925, son of the late Dominick and Connie (Maio) DeAngelo. He proudly served our country in the US Navy during World War II. He was married to his beloved Angela (Vilardi) DeAngelo, who passed away on November 23, 1996. He was employed by the Rome Manufacturing Division of Revere Copper and Brass for more than 40 years and was an active member and officer of Local 10 of the Mechanics Educational Society of America. In 1990 Bernie and Ann retired to Florida. During his retirement he enjoyed family and friends, played golf and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus.
Bernie was a kind man with an infectious laugh and loved by many. His loving legacy is continued through his family. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Dominick and Mary DeAngelo. He was the cherished “Papa” of Kristen DeAngelo and husband David Vidoni; Jennifer DeAngelo and husband Craig Matzek; Kevin DeAngelo and wife Molly; Michael DeAngelo and wife Erin; Mary Terese DeAngelo and husband Michael Wale; Elizabeth DeAngelo; and Mark DeAngelo and the beloved “Little Papa” to seven great grandchildren – Michael, Nick, Max, Ella, Mia, Grace and Leila – who, all but one, had the pleasure and joy of knowing him. He is also survived by his sister, Kathryn Raiti, his special cousins Peter and Rosemary Maio, as well as two sisters-in-law, Louise and Jean DeAngelo and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his kind and loving companion, Edith Porter.
Bernie was predeceased by his sister Mickey Garcia and her husband, Al, and brothers Louis and Dominick DeAngelo.
A private memorial service will be held by the family.
