

Betty A. Jones-Linsz, of Fort Myers passed away Saturday, August 6, 2022, two days before her 104th birthday. Betty was born August 8, 1918 in Cleveland, OH to Harry Allchin and Zilpha Kellogg Allchin. She moved Mentor, OH in 1927. Betty graduated from Mentor High School, Class of 1935 and earned a degree from Wilcox College of Commerce in Cleveland, OH.
In 1943, she married Ted Jones. They raised three sons who all attended Mentor Schools. They moved to Painesville, OH in 1968. For 10 years, she served as Executive Secretary to the General Manager of Fasson, a division of Avery International. In 1978, they retired to Cape Coral, Florida.
Ted died in 1987 and in 1989; she married L. W. (Bill) Linsz, a Mentor High School classmate. She and Bill moved to Palm Coast and then later to Shell Point Village, a retirement community, in Fort Myers. Bill passed away in 1998.
Throughout her life, Betty volunteered at schools, scouting, churches and hospitals, both in Ohio and Florida. She did the family genealogy. Betty was a member of DAR and the Society of Mayflower Descendants. Before becoming legally blind, Betty was an avid Bridge player. She was a great believer in swimming and exercise.
In her early years, Betty played the piano and violin. She sang in the Mentor Methodist and Mentor Christian church choirs. For 24 years, Betty sand in the Painesville Messiah Chorus. Her family was her joy.
Betty is survived by her sons, Thomas R. Jones of Fort Myers, FL, Robert H. Jones of Bisbee, AZ and Allan D. (Jan) Jones of Deltona, FL; brother, Thomas (Blanche) Allchin of Delaware, OH; great grandson, Colin C. Chambers of Euclid, OH and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by husbands, Ted Jones and Bill Linsz; brothers, Lt. Harry Allchin, Jr (KIA in WWII) and Richard Allchin; sisters, Helen Armstrong and Edna Edwards and granddaughter, Cecelia Chambers.
No services are planned in Fort Myers. Betty will be laid to rest at Mentor Cemetery in Mentor, Ohio.
