Charles Fizer

Charles “Chuck” Fizer, 77, of Sanibel died Thursday at Hope Hospice at Shell Point Village. Chuck was born June 14, 1938 in East Chicago, IN to Charles and Anne Fizer. He graduated from Calumet High School in Indiana and later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science.

Chuck lived in California and for many years in Ridgefield, Connecticut before moving to Sanibel in 2010. He has been active in the Sanibel Captiva Sail and Power Squadron and was recently named chairman of the Sanibel-Captiva Republican Caucus. Chuck was a passionate student of the Constitution of the United States.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Katharine “Kate”; son, Charles of New Milford, CT; daughters, Michelle Neville of Washington, Deborah Fizer of Indiana and Annel Henderson of Colorado; seven grandchildren and a brother, Timothy Fizer of LaPorte, IN.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, Nov 9th, at 1:00 PM at Sanibel Congregational United Church of Christ, 2050 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 10291 McGregor Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33919.
