

Born in New Britain, CT in 1926, he was the son of the late Gertrude and Paul Friedmann. He moved to Bristol CT in 1959 and lived there until moving to Fort Myers, FL in 2014.
He enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II and served in the Pacific theater onboard LCT 1331 from April 1944 to May 1946. In 1946 he began his career as an automobile mechanic, spending 25 years working for Poglitsch Garage in New Britain, CT and 20 years working in the automotive department for Sears, in Waterbury, CT. He completed his career working part-time for Quality Maintenance in Bristol, CT for 10 years.
Clifford married the love of his life, the former Louise Pons of New Britain, CT and at the time of his passing, they had been married for 69 and a half years. By 1961 they had three children to whom they devoted their lives.
A faithful husband and father, Clifford was a kind man with a keen sense of humor and a servant’s heart. He enjoyed being an influence for good and actively lived out his Catholic faith. He was always quick with a silly poem or joke that he passed on to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and for many years he baked cookies to send out and share with each family at Christmas. Whether watching the Price is Right, riding five miles a day on his recumbent bike, listening to country western & gospel music or eating hot dogs, chocolate and ice cream, he enjoyed life.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Louise and their three children, Deborah DeSorbo of Fort Myers, FL; Douglas (Rebecca) Fremont of Bristow, VA and Doreen (Thomas) Fasolo of Estero, FL. He was extremely proud of his seven grandchildren, Dereck (Anna) DeSorbo of Durham, CT; Ashley (Andrew) Smith of Unionville, CT; Addison (Sarah) Fasolo of Bristol; Andrew (Leah) Fasolo of Fort Myers, FL; Lauren (Matt) Allen of Raeford, NC and Thomas (Rebekah) Fremont of Warrenton, VA; Brandon (Kristyn) Maurer (deceased) of Houston, TX; his 21 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Evelyn Kerlejza and Viola Moore, and his brothers Albert Fremont; Ralph Friedmann, Raymond Friedmann, Alfred Friedmann, Milton Friedmann and Paul Friedmann.
A memorial service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on the 7th of January 2023 at the Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord, 8051 Cypress Lake Drive, Fort Myers, FL 33919. A graveside memorial service will be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 522 Terryville Avenue, Bristol, CT. The service will be arranged at the convenience of the family.
