Daniel Frank Lewis, 74, passed away on October 18, 2026, at his Fort Myers, Florida, home, surrounded by his family. A longtime resident of St. Paul, Minnesota, Dan spent his life showing up for the people and the community he loved.
He built a long career with Coca-Cola Enterprises, where his work with Minnesota's grocers made him a familiar and respected face in the industry. His loyalty to the brand ran deep, and over the years he assembled a prized collection of vintage Coca-Cola memorabilia that he was always proud to show off.
Above all, Dan was a true family man. Nothing mattered more to him than the people he loved. He seemed to have a tool for every job and knew how to fix just about anything. His favorite place was the family lake house in Shell Lake, Wisconsin, where he made memories with his family and friends.
Dan was generous in every sense of the word: with his time, his energy and whatever he had to give. For a decade he served as president of the Prosperity Youth Center in St. Paul, coaching kids, organizing fundraisers, and quietly making sure every young athlete had the equipment to play.
Hockey held a special place in his heart. As a member and leader of the St. Paul Minute Men (now the Minnesota All Sports Alliance), Dan chaired the Minnesota Mr. Hockey Award for 19 years, helping build the annual banquet into one of the state's proudest hockey traditions.
Retirement didn't slow his giving. In Fort Myers, Dan dedicated his time to the Gladiolus Food Pantry, where he planted the community garden and harvested its food for neighbors in need. He brought a builder's hand and a generous heart to the work, and he spent his retirement helping others.
He never wanted recognition. He wanted to help, to show up, and to leave things better than he found them. Dan touched more lives than he ever knew, and his impact will be felt for generations through the kids he coached, the players he honored, the families he fed, the things he built, and the family he loved.
Dan is survived by his wife, Roberta; his son, Nick (Deana) Lewis; his daughter, Danielle Lewis; his grandchildren, Erin Lewis, Eliana, and Olivia Lewis; his great-grandson, Kingston Lewis; his siblings, Faith (Dale) Schmakel, Rene Lewis, Michael (Rene) Lewis, Michelle (Jon) Kottke and Joe (Rose) Lewis; and his sister-in-law, Shawna Lewis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Elizabeth (Proskow) Lewis, and his brother, Frank Lewis.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 1:00 p.m.. to 4:00 p.m. at Mancini's Char House, 531 7th St W, St. Paul, MN 55102.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Dan the way he lived: with an act of kindness.
