Daniel Fred McNeal

Daniel Fred McNeal of Fort Myers, Florida passed away on February 6, 2026 at home with his wife and children at his side. He was born on November 7th, 1953 in Grandhaven Michigan to Cecil W McNeal and Pauline R (Renouff) McNeal. He graduated from Grand Haven High School, in Grand Haven Michigan, and attended Florida International University in Miami Florida where he earned his Bachelors of Science.

Daniel married Susan M Vantrepott, his great love, on June 16th 1978.

Daniel is survived by his wife Susan McNeal, Children Andrew and Dana Collins and Daniel R and Breanna McNeal, Grandchildren Lucas Lemm and Evangeline Collins, Siblings Lawrence McNeal, Sharon McNeal, and Robert and Patricia McNeal.

Dan will be remembered for his love of his wife and family. The love he had for his wife Sue, and the marriage they shared is admired by anyone who has ever known them. Daniel, Dan, Danny, Danny Bananny, Danny Q, Daddy, Dad, Grandpa, Grand Pa-Pa, Grandpa Susie, Pops, Bro, Dannel, and Dan the Man are some of the names he went by. Dan had a tremendous wit and sense of humor. He knew just how to make everyone smile. He had a way about him and could make anyone feel happy and at ease. Dan will also be remembered for his love of music and guitar playing. Dan spent many years in a blues and classic rock band. His example of love, a life well spent in adventure, music, and fun spirit lives on through his wife, kids and grandchildren. Dan will be greatly missed, but he will live on daily in the thoughts, hearts, and actions of those he inspired and leaves behind.
