

David is predeceased by his wife, Mary Lathrem of seventy-two years, and his daughter, Darla Lathrem.
David is survived by his children, Pat (Harvey) Rollings, Carol (Greg) Miller, and Janet (Chuck) Best, his grandchildren, Allison (Chris) Achilles, Trey (Michele) Best, David (Nicole) Rollings, Megan Miller, Lindsay (Connel) Best-Prince, Brett (Becky) Miller, and Ashley Miller, and his great grandchildren, Talan & Logan Achilles, Makalynn & Christian Prince, and Wyatt, Wesley & Magnolia Miller.
David served with distinction in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1945. Although he arrived in Germany as the war concluded, his service is remembered with gratitude and respect.
In 1947, he married the love of his life, Mary, and together they built a life dedicated to faith, service, and community. David earned his Bachelor of Arts from Georgetown College in Georgetown, KY, followed by a Master of Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, graduating in May 1956.
Throughout his life, David Lathrem was a dedicated pastor, leading numerous congregations with unwavering commitment and compassion. His pastoral journey included serving as the minister at Alton Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg, KY; Corinth Baptist Church in Carthage, MS; Dania Baptist Church in Dania, FL; Central Baptist Church in Ft. Myers, FL; First Baptist Church in Eagle Lake, FL; Antioch Baptist Church in Eagle Lake, FL; New England Heights Baptist Church in Apopka, FL; and Olga Baptist Church in Ft. Myers, FL. He retired in 1998 from his position at First Baptist Church in St. James City, FL.
After retirement, David continued his ministry as an interim and associate pastor at various churches until 2017. Known for his genuine love for people and his remarkable ability to connect with others, he left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Outside of his pastoral duties, David had a passion for fishing and took pride in maintaining his yard until he sold his house at the age of 95. His zest for life and dedication to his family and faith were evident in all that he did.
He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his legacy of faith, love, and service continue to inspire and uplift those he leaves behind.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, September 16, 2024, at 6:30 PM at Lee Blvd Baptist Church at 3107 Lee Blvd., Lehigh Acres, FL 33971.
A graveside service with military honors for David will be held Tuesday, September 17, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241.
