November 25, 1943 – July 17, 2023
Ft Myers, FL – David J. Sloan, 79, passed away peacefully Monday evening at his home in Ft Myers. He was born on November 25, 1943 in Oswego, NY to Frank and Agnes Slobe. Dave was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many.
Dave was known for his honesty, loyalty, generosity, and hard work. After graduating from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1974 he worked as an Engineer with the Farrel Corporation in Rochester, NY. He had a passion, though, to go out on his own in business and in the early 80’s stepped out into the world of Commercial Real Estate. His career blossomed and he made a name for himself earning both CCIM and CEA designations in a life-long career that spanned over 40 years.
Dave had a passion for travel, golf, and higher learning; always striving to better himself and to instill those teachings to his family. He made it to 48 of the 50 United States in his lifetime; some of his favorite things were visiting Yellowstone National Park and fishing in Montana. He and his family visited London and the Netherlands, as well as many ports of call in Central America, sharing cherished memories together. Dave loved cheering on the Syracuse Orange men’s Basketball team, the NY Yankees, and the Buffalo Bills.
Dave is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Jane, and his only daughter Christina Holden, her husband Andrew, and their amazing grandson, Jackson David, who is named for his grandfather. Two of Dave’s brothers (Donald and Phil) and two sisters (Florence and Alicia) reside in Upstate, NY and one brother (Richard) in Denver, CO survive him.
We mourn the loss of a remarkable gentleman, and we also celebrate his life and the beautiful memories we shared. The family asks that you please leave a comment or memory on the funeral home website. Your memories will be shared at the Graveside Service on August 12th at 11:00 am at Lee Memorial Park Cemetery 12777 State Road 82, Fort Myers, FL.
We extend our deepest condolences to the Sloan and Holden families during this difficult time. May the cherished memories of him bring comfort and peace.
With Love, Jane Sloan and Christina Holden
