

Donald E Claytor, 83, died unexpectedly on June 26, 2026 at his home in Fort Myers. Don was born in Lee County and resided in Alva and Fort Myers until his death. After graduation from high school, he served in the US Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from Lee County Mosquito Control after 28 years of service.
Don volunteered with the Alva Fire Dept. and was a licensed pilot as well as earning his boat captain's license. He loved traveling, boating, fishing, and football. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and loved spending time with family. Don had a great sense of humor and loved hearing people laugh. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Don is survived by his wife Mary, son Donald E Claytor, Jr. (Sherri), granddaughter Breahna, grandson Gary(Ashley), great granddaughter Abigail, and his older brother Ernest. Also surviving are step-son Jimmy(Debra), step-daughter Sherrie(Greg), step-grandchildren David, Megan, and Emily. His passing is also mourned by in-laws Anne, Janet, Judy(Bill), Janie(Stu), Eddie(Janice) and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Don was predeceased by his mother Addie Rue Phillips, his first wife Eloise, his younger brother Edgar, and 3 nephews.
He will be forever remembered in our hearts.
Visitation will be held at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park, 12777 State Road 82, Fort Myers, FL 33913, US, on July 13, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a Funeral Service at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park, 12777 State Road 82, Fort Myers, FL 33913, US, on July 13, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 12:45 pm.
