Donovan was born on September 2, 1948, in Carisbrook, Jamaica, West Indies. He spent his early years in Jamaica, attending Carisbrook Elementary School before migrating to England in 1962. There, he completed his education and earned a degree in accounting.
Throughout his professional career, Donovan worked as a telecommunications engineer with British Telecom, where he dedicated 29 years of service before retiring. He was respected for his strong work ethic, professionalism, and commitment to excellence.
Outside of his career, Donovan found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid cricket enthusiast and enjoyed spending time playing bingo and dominoes. As an active member of his local dominoes club, he built many lasting friendships and was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. Those who knew Donovan will remember him as a loving, kind, and reserved man whose gentle nature and generous spirit touched the lives of many.
Donovan was preceded in death by many loved ones and leaves behind cherished family members and friends who will forever treasure his memory. He is survived by his mother, Eugene Chapman; his sister, Claudia Satchwell; his cousins, Errol Chapman and Michelle Grotjahn; and many other beloved relatives and friends whose lives were enriched by his presence.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of Donovan's life. A visitation will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 5:00 pm-7:00pm at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park (12777 FL-82, Fort Myers, Fl). Following the visitation will be a wake at 8:00pm at El Tarasco Restaurant (1320 Business Way, Lehigh Acres, Fl). A funeral service will take place on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 10:00 am, followed by burial at 11:30 am at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park. Following burial a repass will be held at St. Anselm Church (2201 East 6th Street, Lehigh Acres, Fl).

Though Donovan's quiet presence will be deeply missed, his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for family and friends will remain a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who knew him.
