Gully was born in Portland, Oregon on March 3, 1947, the son of Charles R. Gulledge and Yvette C. (nee Kiefer) Gulledge.
Gully graduated from Bountiful High School in Bountiful, Utah, and soon joined the US Navy for 8 years of service and three Honorable Discharges. In Michigan, he worked in the automotive plants; and, after moving to Florida he worked for Lee County Utilities until retirement.
In July of 1978 he met his future wife, Sue, through his sister, and two years later he married Sue Lang (nee Daughtrey). They continued their lives in Cape Coral under the warm Florida sun with its soft breezes, blue skies and tropical foliage galore.
Gully enjoyed many interests such as a licensed ham radio operator; motorcycles; boating; playing guitar (classical rock) in a band; drag racing his 84 Chevy truck in Immokalee; restoring his vintage 1938 Chevy from the ground up; muscle cars; and, in his later years, touring the West in his “diesel pusher” motorhome.
Gully was a true Patriot. He was a member of the American Legion, Post #90, in Cape Coral, which he considered his extended family, particularly the American Legion Riders.
Survivors include his adoring wife, Sue, (no children) and his two beautiful nephews, Casey Ray Coffey and Carey Lee Coffey. He was preceded in death by his Mother, Father; and, Sister, Debra Jean Powell.
Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park is handling “crematory interment” arrangements. There will be no viewing.
