

Dorothy Mary (Becker) Bonstedt fell asleep in the Lord on October 9th, 2025. She was born near Pottstown, Pennsylvania on October 25, 1927, and graduated from Pottstown High School in 1945. She then went on to Nursing School, graduating from Pottstown Hospital in 1952, and became a Psychiatric Nurse. While there, she met her future husband, Dr. Theodor Bonstedt, an intern at the same hospital. They married on May 3,1952 and had three children.
Throughout her life, Dorothy was an avid volunteer in many different organizations, including school libraries, and nursing homes. She served terms as president of the Sea Bells association with the U.S. Power Squadron of Fort Myers, as well as President of the Philoptochos Women’s organization of Greek Orthodox Churches in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Fort Myers, FL. She loved children and was a Sunday School teacher of elementary grade students in three different Orthodox Churches for over 50 years. She was also a volunteer for the Continuing Education Program of the Cape Coral Hospital in Florida.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Theodor, a sister Elizabeth Rhoads and brother Leroy Becker, as well as a niece, Sylvia Yeager, and nephew Charles Rhoads. She is survived by her son, Theodore and his wife Rosa Escandon, her son Stephen and his wife, Ana Lucia, her daughter Angelina (Drake), her two grandchildren, Theodore Drake and Alyssa Drake, plus two nephews, Ron Becker and Mickey Becker, and two nieces, Bonnie Wallace and Judy Becker.
A Funeral Service will be held 11 am Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 8210 Cypress Lake Drive, Fort Myers, FL 33919, with the committal service following at Hodges Lee Memorial Park Cemetery, 12777 State Road 82, Fort Myers, FL 33913.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dorothy’s memory to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church; Hope Hospice at 2430 Diplomat Parkway E., Cape Coral, FL 33909; or any other charitable organization of your choosing.
