Douglas F. Hendrie, Sr., 85, of Fort Myers passed away Monday, July 27, 2015. He was born in White Plains, NY on December 20, 1929 to Jacobus and Sarah Hendrie. Douglas worked for Westchester County in New York for 30 years before retiring to Alva in 1985. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen and two brothers, Jacobus Jr. and Robert. Douglas is survived by his children: Douglas F. (Jeanie) Hendrie, Jr., Diane F. O’Reilly, Stuart C. Hendrie, Sr., Ronnie E. (Tina) Longmire and Heather G. Hendrie; his grandchildren: William J. Davitt III, Douglas F. (Krystle) Hendrie III, Gregory S. Hendrie, John A. O’Reilly, Timothy J. O’Reilly, Stuart C. Hendrie, Jr., Jennifer R. (Pedro) Marquez and Katherine M. (Joseph) Longmire-Perez; and four great grandchildren: Douglas F. Hendrie IV, Vincenzo M. Hendrie, Ariana R. Marquez and Julian J. Marquez. The visitation will be held at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park on Sat., August 1, 2015 from 11 am until the time of the funeral service at 1 pm.
