Edward Patrick Bobb was born in Ann’s Grove, Guyana to Marquis and Iris Bobb, on March 2, 1941. The eldest of five children, Edward, known as Patrick, attended Ann’s Grove Roman Catholic School and Trinity Methodist School before attending Tutorial High School, in Georgetown, Guyana. As a young man in Guyana, he worked at a film-processing studio in Georgetown and later at the Demerara Bauxite Company Limited in Linden.
In 1960, at the age of 19, he emigrated to London, England. His mother and siblings would follow him there shortly thereafter. Patrick worked for London Transit and later the London Telephone Company. It was in London in 1964 where he met and married the love of his life, Marie Yvonne Sobers, known as Yvonne, they made their marital home in London where they had two children, Marion and Roger.
In 1969, Patrick, Marion and Roger, immigrated to the United States, where Yvonne had immigrated a year earlier and worked as a registered nurse to prepare for their arrival. That same year, he began working at New York Telephone (now Verizon). He worked there for 34 years as a systems analyst until he retired in 2003.
Patrick and Yvonne ultimately settled at 390 Linden Boulevard in the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, a vibrant community of West Indian immigrants. It was at “390 Linden” where Patrick and Yvonne had their third child, Gordon, and where they raised their three children.
In 2004, Patrick and Yvonne retired and relocated to Lehigh Acres, Florida. Once in Lehigh Acres, they both immediately became actively involved in the community. Patrick served as the Lehigh Acres Cavalier Domino Club president for six years. Patrick and Yvonne enjoyed travelling together around the world in their retirement the highlight of which was a trip to West Africa where Patrick was promised chiefdom. In addition to being an avid traveler he was also a voracious reader of non-fiction literature with a particular interest in race and politics.
