Eleanor Ruth Knight of Palm Coast, Florida died January 28, 2019 at age 89. Eleanor was loved by family and friends for her kindness, gentle nature, and sunny disposition. She had a wonderful sense of style and fashion. Eleanor is survived by three daughters, Deborah Knorr, Nancy Zedar, and Julie Claude; brothers Ernest and Arnold Birkett; and sister Elizabeth Heffner. Eleanor also leaves behind three grandchildren, Hillary Kroboth, Zachary Zedar, and Eric Knorr; and two great grandchildren, Dylan and Caroline Kroboth. She was predeceased by her first husband, Milton Robey, and her second husband Robert Knight, and by two brothers, William and David.
Mrs. Knight spent most of her life in the Washington, D.C. area where she worked for the Woodward and Lothrop Department Store modeling and selling women’s clothing, for the Washington, D.C. government, and later for the U.S. Department of Agriculture Library. In retirement, Mrs. Knight relocated with her second husband to Fort Myers, Florida where she enjoyed playing golf. She owned homes in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware for many years and, after moving to Florida, continued to return there each summer for vacations with extended family. These were wonderful times with children, grandchildren, sister, and niece. In her later retirement years, Mrs. Knight lived in retirement and assisted living communities in Palm Coast, Florida and Silver Spring, Maryland.
Graveside services will be conducted at Lee Memorial Park Cemetery, 12777 State Rd 82, Fort Myers, Florida 33913 on Monday, February 4, 2019 at 11:00am. Arrangements are under the direction of Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park.
