Jay was born in Montreal Quebec year of 1946 to “Butch” and Marion Stahan. He grew up with hockey in his blood watching his father play professionally for teams in Canada and US. As a teenager, they settled in Toledo, Ohio where he graduated from Scott High in 1964. Expanding his education, he graduated from University of Toledo with a master’s degree in hand and employed by Jeep and General Motors. This experience forever sealed his passion for cars. He and wife Andrea soon welcomed his daughter and moved to Natick, Massachusetts to work at Digital Equipment Co. They welcomed his son few years later and raised the family while building a successful management career for various companies including Avery Dennison and KAO. An avid coach, he spent hours with youth hockey teams developing future players. Jay loved to mentor and was involved in his professional society ASQ. As an empty nester, he later moved to Broward County Fla (still playing hockey) and working at QMED. You would often find Jay on the golf course or on the beach with binoculars stored in his car for his bird watching hobby. After meeting his wife, Sandy he moved to Fort Meyers where he finally retired to live his final years. Throughout his life, his circle of friends and family widened because of the love he showed and the compassion he gave.
Proceeded in death, were his parents and his wife, Carole Mason Stahan. He is survived by his wife Sandra Stahan (Ft Meyers, Fla), former wife Andrea Stahan (Boston, Ma), daughter Jaedra (David) Stahan (Boston, Ma) and son Jaral (Catherine) Perry (Charlotte, NC) , brother Ralph (Elaine) Stahan (Ottawa, Ont) grandchildren Bermuda, Merryn, Jackson and Jacob.
