George Ralph BARBAREE

George Ralph Barbaree, 96, of Ft. Myers, Fla., formerly of East Liverpool, Ohio, died on June 1, 2021 at Barrington Terrace Assisted Living. He was born on January 2, 1925, in Richland, Ga., the son of Arthur Lee and Laura Ann (Fussell) Barbaree.

After high school, George served in the US Marine Corps during WWII. During this time he met his wife Alfreda who was serving in the US Navy Waves. After discharge from the service, they married on August 24, 1946.

George worked in the pottery industry as a mould maker for Universal Rundle and went on to be an elected officer in the pottery union. His career spanned 30+ years. He also held highly regarded positions in the community, serving on the board of trustees for East Liverpool City Hospital and the Potters Bank and Trust Company.

He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Alfreda; son, Ronald (Rose) of Perrineville, N.J.; daughters, Susan (Phil) Hirsch of Girard, Ohio, and Joyce (Michael) Aubele of Ft. Myers, Fla.; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews,

Private family services will be held in Ft. Myers. In lieu of flowers, contributions in George’s name may be made to Hope Hospice Development Department, 9470 Healthpark Circle, Ft. Myers, FL 33908.

Ronnie, Peggy and I would like to send our deepest sympathy to you all. We loved Uncle Ralph just like everyone else. We always enjoyed there visits and was so glad he made Sam’s funeral. Please accept our love and give Aunt Freida a big hug. Prayers for each of you as you face the coming days. 🙏🏼🙏🏼
