September 15, 1936 – April 28, 2021
Gladys Fields, 84, of Ft. Myers passed from this earth on April 28, 2021 surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Gladys Mae Arnold was born to the late Violet and Alfred Arnold, September 15, 1936 in Hartford, Connecticut. She was the youngest of 4 children and raised in Farmington, Connecticut, where she established a number of close childhood friendships that would last her entire life. In 1955 Gladys met Charles Fields while working in Hartford, CT. They were married in 1957 in Unionville, CT and had 4 children. They lived in Framingham, MA for a number of years and in 1966, after a brief stop in Chicago, Gladys and Charles moved their family to Central Florida, and in 1973 they settled in Fort Myers, FL. Gladys is survived by her children, Brian(Suzanne), David(Pam), Jennifer, Steven, 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Gladys was predeceased by her loving husband Charles in 2014. Gladys enjoyed raising her children, working in the family business, traveling, and cruising. Gladys and Charles enjoyed golfing, and returned frequently to enjoy New England friends and the change of seasons. Gladys enjoyed family gatherings followed by lively, spirited games with her family, always ready with a freshly baked sweet treat to share. She was not only “mom” to her children but also friend, ally, and trusted confidant. Her nurturing and caring nature also extended to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. “Don’t sweat the small stuff” was one of her pieces of advice that she lived by. Generosity, patience, and wit were traits that she had in abundance and which made her the wonderful person that she was. She will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by her family and all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her name to Hope Hospice, 9470 Healthpark Cir. Ft. Myers, FL 33908.

So very sorry to hear of the passing of Gladys. When we first moved to Ft Myers in September 2016 Gladys arrived at our front door with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. She has been a very kind next door neighbor . We will miss your kind smile and cheerful wave. Rest in peace, Gladys and thank you for your kindness. You will be missed.
