1 Corinthians 15:10 (NKJV)
With hearts full of gratitude, we celebrate the life and legacy of Grace Andrade “Jean” Hackett, a devoted wife, daughter, sister, aunt, faithful servant of God, artist, and cherished friend.
Born on June 3, 1960, in Pike, Manchester, Jamaica, Jean was the beloved daughter of Astley Uter and Ruby Otensia Powell. She attended West Indies College before immigrating with her family to Brooklyn, New York, where she continued her education at Bay Ridge High School. Her love of learning led her to pursue studies in Health and Human Services at Long Island University and later Florida Gulf Coast University.
Jean possessed a thoughtful spirit and a creative soul. She expressed herself through writing, drawing, painting, interior decorating, and fashion, finding beauty in ordinary moments and sharing that appreciation with those around her. She loved her nieces and nephews dearly and treasured the time she spent with them.
On September 9, 1990, Jean and Beverly Hackett were united in marriage and faithfully walked life’s journey together for nearly thirty-six years. A lifelong Seventh-day Adventist, her faith was the foundation of her life. She faithfully served as a Deaconess of Lehigh Acres Seventh-day Adventist Church, where her kindness, compassion, and steadfast faith reflected Christ in both word and deed. Her favorite hymns, Be Still, My Soul and Give Me the Bible, beautifully reflected the hope that anchored her life.
Jean leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband, Beverly Hackett; her siblings, Jannett, Wayne, Patrick, and Rose; her beloved aunt and uncle; her cherished cousins; her beloved nieces and nephews, Christine, Alexis, Chris, Audrey, Andrew, Joel, Octavia, and Ashley; along with extended family, devoted caregivers, dear friends, and her beloved church family. Though we grieve her absence, we do not grieve without hope. We rest in God’s promise of the resurrection and look forward to that glorious morning when we shall see Jean again.
Services will be held at Lee Memorial Park, State Road 82, Fort Myers, Florida on July 19th, 2026 at 10:30 am, followed by a Graveside Burial at 11:30 am.
