Jane Mary Stevens

Born on April 12, 1934, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. Jane lived a long and fulfilling life marked by faith, compassion, hard work, and devotion to her family and community.

A true servant of Christ, Jane faithfully served her Lord and Savior for more than 40 years as a member of the Assemblies of God Church. Her faith guided every aspect of her life. She dedicated much of her time to ministry and service through Girls Ministry, the Good News Club, and outreach efforts that supported underprivileged children. She was known by all who knew her as a woman of prayer, whose unwavering faith and gentle spirit were an inspiration to others.

At the age of 18, Jane moved to Baltimore, Maryland, to live with her two older sisters. Determined to build a future through education and service, she worked to save enough money to put herself through nursing school. In 1979, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Maryland. Jane was an exceptional nurse whose dedication and professionalism earned recognition throughout her career. She continued working in the nursing field until the age of 76, a testament to both her work ethic and her genuine love for caring for others.

In 1957, Jane married the love of her life, Thomas Stevens Sr. Together they built a family centered on love, and perseverance. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family, lovingly caring for her children, grandchildren, and later her great-grandchildren.

Beyond her nursing career, Jane was an ambitious and entrepreneurial woman. She was involved in several business ventures throughout her life, including Mary Kay, EcoQuest, Amway, MonaVie, and other direct-sales and network marketing opportunities.

Jane will be remembered for her warm smile, wonderful sense of humor, wisdom, compassion, and unwavering kindness. She was deeply loved by all who knew her and leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, and love.

She is survived by her children, Thomas (Linda) Stevens Jr. and Jane (Jackson) Sherer; her beloved grandchildren, David Partida of Jacksonville, FL, Stacy Garcia of Cape Coral, FL, Jackson Sherer Jr. of Lehigh Acres, FL, Madison DeJongh of Cottondale, FL, Julie Sherer of North Fort Myers, FL, Brandon Stevens of Sanibel, FL, and Dylan Stevens of Sanibel, FL; great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews from across the country who frequently traveled to celebrate birthdays and family gatherings with her. Those gatherings were among Jane's greatest joys, and she treasured every opportunity to have her family together.

Jane was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Stevens Sr. in 1981, and her five siblings, Robert Malenock, Henry Malenock, Catherine Barbour, Ann Mason, and George Malenock Jr. She moved to Southwest Florida after her husband's passing.

In her free time, Jane enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, shopping, playing cards, traveling, and watching classic westerns with her son-in-law Jackson who regularly brought her fresh flowers. Her most cherished memory was her trip to Israel where she was baptised in the Jordan river.

Though she will be deeply missed, Jane's family takes comfort in knowing that after a life faithfully lived in service to God and others, she has received her heavenly crown of righteousness.

Services will be held at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park, (12777 State Road 82, Fort Myers, FL 33913) on Monday, July 27, 2026 with Visitation from 10:00 am - 11:00 am, followed by a Funeral Service from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm and Burial to follow.
