Janet Grace Bowersox, of Lehigh Acres, Florida, passed from this life to the next on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at the age of 80. After several years of declining health due to Parkinson’s and other respiratory issues, Janet died peacefully at Hospice House in her sleep with her husband, Wayne, at her side.
Janet was born in Claysburg, Pennsylvania on January 25, 1941 to father, Paul Eckenroth and mother, Mildred Kennedy Eckenroth. On August 14, 1959, she married her husband of 62 years, Wayne Bowersox (Lehigh Acres, FL). Throughout the years she enjoyed working with her local church, putting puzzles together, playing games, reading books, and keeping in touch with her family. Her love for God was evident in her life as she was always at peace and optimistic that God would work things out—no matter how bad they seemed. It was her love for God that also gave her peace in her final days as she looked forward to her new body and the place that God has prepared for her.
Janet is survived by her husband, Wayne, daughter, Carol Burgess (Sharps Chapel, TN), and son, Butch Bowersox (Cape Coral, FL). In addition, she is also survived by: son-in-law, David Burgess; daughter-in-law, Elisa Bowersox; grandchildren, Brett Burgess, Jarrett Burgess, Kristen Bowersox, Bradley Bowersox; great-grandchildren, Ayden Burgess, Axle Burgess, Deklan Burgess; and special friend, Connie Bowersox. Surviving siblings include: Martha Grove, Raymond Eckenroth, Gary Eckenroth, and Margaret Corl. She was preceded in death by father, Paul, and mother, Mildred, as well as siblings Leroy Eckenroth, Mary Albright and Leona Gentzel.
A memorial service will be held at the North Fort Myers Church of the Nazarene, 6781 Bayshore Road, North Fort Myers, FL 33917, on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 1:30 PM.
