Joan Kearnaghan of Ft. Myers, Florida passed away on June 30, 2025. She was born October 13, 1938 to Angeline Conrady Bolin and Emory Alexander Bolin in Normal, Illinois. She grew up in Bloomington, Illinois and was a graduate of University High School, the University of Illinois, and Indiana University. She had one sister, Virginia Bolin Willey (Allan). She married Patrick H. Kearnaghan, September 2, 1961. She is survived by her husband Pat, two sons Dan (Judy) and Brian (Patty), four grandchildren, Chelsea (Sean), Jack (Hannah), Brad, and Weston, and four great-grandchildren, Reed, Emersyn, Grayson, and Kennedy.
Joan held a Life License in Elementary Education from the states of Indiana and Mississippi. She was a teacher, guidance counselor, and elementary school principal. She then transitioned to a 20-year career in the insurance industry. She held designations from Chartered Property Casualty (CPCU) and Chartered Life Underwriters (CLU). She retired from American States Insurance and Safeco Insurance in 2001, having served many roles in the education and training of employees, including authoring computer-based training programs and designing classes to teach insurance and database training.
She lived in the Indianapolis area for nearly 40 years, including Carmel and Noblesville. She was an avid golfer and active member of the Eighteen-Hole Ladies League at River Glen Country Club in Fishers, Indiana and the Women’s Golf Association of Olde Hickory Golf and Country Club in Ft. Myers, Florida.
Arrangements will be handled by Hodges Kiser Funeral Home in Ft. Myers, Florida.
The Memorial Service will be held at 3 pm on July 12, 2025 at Edison Hall in Cypress Cove at Health Park, 10200 Cypress Cove Dr, Ft. Myers, Florida 33908.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations to "The First Tee" be made in Joan's memory.
