
Florida, at the age of 90. Born on September 13, 1934, in Nutley, New Jersey, he was the
son of Ruth Zwinglas and John Edward Delhagen and stepson of Edward Lipinski. Jack was
predeceased by his beloved wife, Martha "Marty" Eidenbach Delhagen, and his brother,
Lawrence.
A proud graduate of Brown University in 1956, Jack served his country as a Lieutenant
Commander in the U.S. Navy before embarking on a remarkable career. He began in sales
at Westinghouse in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, before transitioning to a successful career as
a stockbroker in 1962. Over four decades, he became a trusted financial advisor to
individuals and institutions, retiring in 1999. Jack also shared his expertise by teaching
Personal Finance at the Allentown Business School.
In 1972, Jack moved to the Pocono Mountains, where he built and operated the Jim Thorpe
KOA campground with his family. Known for his creativity and community spirit, he
introduced innovative events like Halloween Fright Fest and Fishing Derbies. Jack’s
entrepreneurial vision and partnership with Carbon County Tourism Promotion left a lasting
impression on the community.
Jack was an active member of numerous organizations, including the Brown University
Alumni Association, Rotary Clubs International, MENSA, and several chambers of
commerce. A devout Catholic, he participated in parish life at St. Thomas More (Allentown,
PA), Our Lady of Light (Estero, FL), and St. Columbkill (Fort Myers, FL).
Jack’s zest for life was unparalleled. He loved fishing, golfing, playing poker, cheering for the
Phillies and Eagles, and traveling with Marty to over 25 countries. He cherished time with
family and friends, especially over a perfectly grilled steak or lobster and a good bourbon at
one of his seasonal homes.
He is survived by his daughter Mary Ruth of Fort Myers, Florida; son Edward of Plainfield,
Vermont, wife Jennifer Guarino; and daughter Kathleen "Kate" of Portland, Oregon, spouse
Denise Burdick; and three grandchildren, Erica White, Alex Delhagen and Kira Delhagen.
A Catholic Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of
Light Catholic Church in Estero, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jack’s
name to a charity of your choice. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
