

John served proudly in the US Air force as a radio operator and did security for 23 years from 1943-1965. He retired as MSgt E-7 from Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. John then went on to work at Chemical Bank in New York City. He then began a career at the U.S Post Office in Jackson, New Jersey and retired after 20 years. His many memberships included: The Holy Name Society, The Sacred Heart Society, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. John retired to North Fort Myers in 1988 and made many friends and participated at Pine Lake Country Club's shuffle board where he was the champion.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Loretta De Rose and his brother George DeRose.
John is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy DeRose; children, Helen (Glenn) DeRose Murphy, Margaret (Keith) DeRose Maulbeck, John (Marilyn) DeRose; grandchildren, Shawn, Jeanette, Kristina and Keith (KJ) Maulbeck, Amanda and Patrick Murphy, Kurtis, Kimberly, Anthony and Taylor DeRose;
great grandchildren, Eva Maulbeck, Easton MacMillan, Olivia and Daysey DeRose; siblings, Joseph and Laura DeRose and Michael DeRose, Mary Dolan and Loretta Ansbro and a large family of nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park, 12777 State Road 82, Ft. Myers, FL 33913 on Monday, March 14th from 5 till 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Therese Catholic Church, 20115 N Tamiami Trail, N Ft Myers, FL 33903 on Tuesday, March 15th at 11am with burial to follow at Lee Memorial Park Cemetery.
