JOSEPH E BURUN OF FORT MYERS, FL (FORMERLY FROM ITHACA, NY) PASSED AWAY PEACEFULLY AT HOME SURROUNDED BY HIS FAMILY ON NOVEMBER 20, 2021.

JOSEPH WAS BORN IN ITHACA, NY ON MAY 14, 1931 TO JOSEPH JAMES AND ANNA AGNES (GEDDAS) BURUN. BEFORE JOINING THE US ARMY IN 1952 JOE ATTENDED LANSING CENTRAL SCHOOL.

JOE MADE THE RANK OF STAFF SARGENT BEFORE LEAVING THE MILITARY SERVICE IN 1955. ONCE HE LEFT THE ARMY HE MET THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE MARY. JOE AND MARY WERE MARRIED IN MAY 1956.

JOE IS SURVIVED BY HIS LOVING WIFE OF 65 YEARS, MARY G HOWE BURUN. JOE WAS THE PROUD FATHER OF THREE WONDERFUL, SUCCESSFUL CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES. EDWARD (ANGELA) BURUN OF ESTERO FL, SUE (JEFF) BURUN STEVENSON OF FT MYERS AND MARK (TAMMY) BURUN OF FT MYERS.

JOE IS ALSO SURVIVED BY 8 GRANDCHILDREN — KIMBERLY (MICAH) STEVENSON ANDERSON, JENNIFER STEVENSON, ASHLEY (CHRIS) WAMBLE, EDWARD JR, ANGELA, & MARYSUE BURUN, JOSEPH & JESSICA BURUN.

IN ADDITION TO HIS GRANDCHILDREN HE IS SURVIVED BY 5 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN — CAMDEN STEVENSON, JACKSON, LEVI & HARPER ANDERSON, EMMETT & BABY WAMBLE.

JOE IS ALSO SURVIVED BY HIS BROTHER STANLEY (DONNA) BURUN OF FORT MYERS, FL. JOE WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED BY HIS MANY NEPHEWS AND NIECES.

JOE WAS PREDECEASED BY HIS PARENTS, JOSEPH & ANNA GEDDAS BURUN, HIS BROTHERS; RICHARD (ELSIE) & LEONARD BURUN AND SISTER; ELEANOR (BILL) BURUN BACHELOR.

JOE WAS BRANCH MANAGER OF TOMPKINS COUNTY TRUST COMPANY IN ITHACA, NY FOR 31 YEARS. JOE & MARY MOVED TO FORT MYERS, FL IN 1986 AND HE WAS INVOLVED IN NUMEROUS BUSINESS VENTURES IN FL. JOE ENJOYED HOME RENOVATIONS, GOLF, TRAVEL AND MOST OF ALL PLAYING WITH HIS GRANDCHILDREN.

DONATIONS MAY BE MADE IN HONOR OF JOE TO ST JUDE’S HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN

Mary and family - You have my deepest sympathy on the passing of Joe. We worked at the Trust Company at the same time for many years and I always remember Joe fondly.

Had a great time in Hawaii with Joe and Mary back in 1984. I always considered him extended family since he was Stan's brother. RIP Joe.
