Joe proudly served in the United States Airforce as a Veterinary Specialist. Joe worked at various jobs after he was honorably discharged from the Airforce, but he truly valued his time at Lee County Parks and Recreation. He started at Parks and Rec in 2006 and devoted over 12 years. Joe was an avid reader. He usually finished at least 3 books ever week. He preferred history and murder mysteries when he read, but also collected antique books that had meaning to him. Joe also collected fossils and you could find anything from shark's teeth to snake skins in his collection. He was an amateur botanist and had developed incredible knowledge about plants over the years. He could even tell you what a gopher berry was and where to find them. Joe never missed a chance to be out in the woods where he felt most at peace. He also enjoyed fishing, and spending time with his cat and his dear friends. Joe was a hard worker and a loyal friend. His love for animals and nature was inspiring to those who knew him. Joe will be dearly missed.
