Joe was born on May 11, 1943 in New Haven, CT to Walter and Marion Layman, the first of three children. He was raised, and lived most of his life, in Wallingford, CT and graduated from Providence College in 1965. He was District Manager at General Motors before founding and leading Layman Builders of Wallingford.
Together with his wife of 50 years, Maryanne, Joe led a life that took him around the world from the Caribbean to Istanbul to the streets of Dublin, 4. He made his life in Wallingford, CT, Lake Winnipesaukee, NH, and Ft. Myers, FL where he turned friends into family at every turn. He was a lover of fast cars, good deals, and more than anything, Maryanne.
In addition to Maryanne, he is survived by a brother, Walter; sister, Marion; nephews, Michael, Brandon and Evan; nieces, Heather, Jennifer, Courtney and Katherine; loving brother's and sister's-in-law and was predeceased by his Pekapoo, Magic.
The service will be held on Friday, November 8th at 11:00 am at Church of the Resurrection of our Lord at 8121 Cypress Lake Drive in Fort Myers with reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Joseph’s name to Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund (jdfr.org) and St. Jude’s Research Hospital (stjude.org).
