Kaitlyn had a sweet personality with a smile that would light up any room she entered. She was deeply devoted to her family, always willing to help out with any task or errand, big or small. She adored her two older brothers and never missed an opportunity to applaud their many accomplishments. She was also a loyal friend, a trusted employee, and most recently, a kind and compassionate nurse. Becoming a nurse had been a dream of Katie’s for many years and as a two-time heart transplant recipient, she worked hard to overcome challenges and achieve her goal. In her own words, ‘it made me want to be a nurse and help people going through a scary time in their life.’
In addition to working as an LPN, Kaitlyn was carrying a full load of courses, months away from achieving her next goal of becoming an RN. Whenever she could, she also helped her parents by working at her father’s business Vault Structures, Inc. as a member of the accounting department. Sweet Kaitlyn also loved her nightly phone conversations with her grandmother and savored the times spent with her family, coworkers, and friends.
Kaitlyn enjoyed meeting new people and listening to their stories. To Kaitlyn, there were no strangers in this world, only friends she hadn’t met yet. She loved rainbows, sunsets, and driving her F150 around town listening to her favorite country music with her dog Daisy by her side. Kaitlyn knew that each day was a gift as summarized by her high school yearbook quote: life is not measured by the number of breaths you take but by the moments that take your breath away. Honoring her final wish, Kaitlyn's corneas were donated so that two others may experience the most amazing side of humanity as our family has two times before.
Kaitlyn is survived by her loving parents Patti and Kevin, her devoted brothers Colin and Kyle, her adoring grandmother Bette, her wise Aunt Linda and her beloved Labrador Daisy Mai.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather Michael J McNamara and her uncle Michael J McNamara II.
A Visitation for Kaitlyn will be held Saturday, October 14, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park, 12777 State Road 82, Fort Myers, FL 33913, followed by a Celebration of Life Service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
