Lois Jane was born Lois Jane Struck on May 21, 1929 to parents Harold and Edna (Tedford) Struck in Paterson, New Jersey. Her earliest memories were of playing with her many cousins, family gatherings and tap dancing.
After graduating high school in 1947, she decided that her career path would be nursing. Graduating in 19541 as a Registered Nurse from Paterson General Hospital's diploma program, she began working as an RN on a medical unit. Working hard and while spending some relaxing time with girlfriends at the Jersey Shore, Lois Jane met, Dick Brossy (Hugh Richard) an accountant and artist. They were soon married, both always drawn to the Jersey Shore life.
Lois Jane worked as an RN for nearly 40 years. Expanding her career to include obstetrical as well as pediatric nursing. She was present for many of her future grandchildren and great-grandchildren's births. Her 4 children, who survive her, Cynthia, Diane, James, and Penny (Penelope) remember her instruction in the "proper way to swaddle a newborn".
In 1975, Richard passed away, and Lois Jane threw herself into her career. However it wasn't tooo long that she had met Herbie (Herbert B.) Eisenberg, a professor of economics and statistics. She enjoyed Herbie's numerous interests in traveling and outdoor activities. In July 1980, they were married in a small home ceremony in New Jersey. Herbert brought to the family his children Michelle and Jeremey, both whom also survive her.
Moves to Ohio and West Virginia, finally ended with a move to Fort Myers, Florida. Lois Jane and Herbert lived together in their home until Herbert's passing in 2013. Together they sought numerous travels to Denmark, Ireland, England, and even cruised to the Panama Canal to Costa Rica. Because Herb was inquisitive, Lois Jane enjoyed the whirlwind of new adventures and meeting people from different cultures and countries. They volunteered together at Gulf Coast Medical Center. She oved ceramics and continued her tap dancing with a local senior citizen troupe until she was in her 80s.
In her more recent years, Lois Jane enjoyed spending time with her two cats, Luke and Velvet, as well as her expanding family. She was some how able to remember the birthdays of all the children, great grandchildren, cousins and friends. Everyone would et a card with a not of "Best Wishes". Because of her remarkable memory for dates, she was known as the "Birthday Savant".
Lois Jane died after a short illness cared for by her daughters Diane and Penny who were with her almost daily. She is survived by her 4 children, Cynthia Brossy-Hart (Lowell Hart), Diane Jablonski (Bob), Jim Brossy (Debbie Rudman), And Penny Wolper (John) and 2 step children Michele Drake (Keith), and Jeremey West; 15 grand children, Donald Novajosky, Peter Hahola, Emily hart, Amanda Tetereault, Lauren Maitland, Clark Brossy, Katherine Camedecco, Jeffrey Aron Jablonski, Lesley Hart, Ian Hart, Benjamin Jablonski, Chloe Hart, Brandon Drake, and Joshua Drake and 15 great grand children Alexandra Novajosky, Isaiah Hahola, Alexis Hahola, Lila West, Sadie Greene, Adalyn Greene, Ty Giermanski, EdwardJames Camedecco, Fallon Jablonski, Avery Teterault, Jackson Tetereault, Carter Drake, RIver Jablonski, Amelia Giermanski, and Ellanorah Drake. Also, sister in law Doris Brossy.
A Memorial service will be hosted on February 11, 2022 at 10:30am at Hodges Funeral HOme at lee Memorial Park, 12777 State Rd 82 Fort Myers, FL 33913.
