Marcia Mary Davis passed away on January 17, 2025 at the age of 84. A three-time cancer survivor, she succumbed to heart disease with her family surrounding her with love. Born on Christmas, 1940 to Leon and Rita Woodward of Millbury Massachusetts, she was the best Christmas present to her family.
As rock and roll swept the nation, Marcia met Bob Davis at a community dance after he built up his nerve to ask her to dance while the last song played. They remained sweethearts while attending Millbury High School, marrying June 20, 1959 and continued dancing through their lives together.
Kids soon followed. With these little ones at home she started a cottage business called Cape Hobbycraft, successfully running it for 25 years with Bob joining her in the endeavor. The business took off and her craft items were sold in many gift shops on Cape Cod and, eventually, at the Christmas Tree Shops throughout the Northeast.
Marcia loved living on Cape Cod and, upon retirement, she and Bob moved to Fort Myers in 2000. They quickly came to love the area and they joined a community of great friends. She loved volunteering to help her neighbors and always had a laugh to share. Her husband and her kids were her proudest achievements. In her free time, she created beautiful needlepoint works, loved to master jigsaw puzzles, and was a fierce card player. Marcia and Bob loved traveling, visited most of the states, and the top 10 national parks. Born with a competitive nature that she passed along to her kids, Marcia loved going to their sports events and cheering them along. Always an active participant, she also loved playing watersports, and was a champion shuffleboard player – she just loved beating the guys!
Her loving children include Bobby (Annie) of Dresden, ME; Tom (Darleen) of Harwich, MA; Deb (Ken) of Fort Myers, FL; Jim of Chatham, MA and John of Harwich, MA. Her grandkids include Kenny, Ryan (Sami), Jen, Lena and Jasmine and they are all following in Gram’s footsteps making a great impact on the world. She leaves behind her siblings Bob (Viann) Woodward, Charlene Anton, Sandra (Jim) Ward and Bruce Woodward and a grand-dog, Lucy.
Heaven has gained a powerful angel and to honor Marcia her family asks that donations be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (StJude.org) so that other children may enjoy an enriched life and survive their own cancers.
There will be a private celebration of her life at a later date.
