Margaret Marieh Guirguis was born January 2, 1930, in Cairo, Egypt. At the young age of ninety-four, she peacefully and joyously passed through the gates of Heaven on July 18, 2024.
She was the beloved daughter of Tanious Marieh, her father, and Marium Gobran, her angel mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfy Guirguis, and her ten siblings: Yvonne, Victoria, Michael, Theresa, Elias, Amal, Theresa, Samir, Samia, and Nabeel. Margaret is survived by her children, Mona Guirguis Hilton (Todd Hilton) and Samuel Guirguis (Lisa Guirguis), and her cherished grandchildren: Andrew Hilton, Alexandra Hilton, and Bryan Guirguis.
Born and raised in Cairo, Margaret began her career at El Noor Hotel, while also caring for her family. She pursued education at the British Institue and English Mission School, earning honors diplomas from Oxford and Cambridge. Furthering her studies, she received a scholarship to Trinity College, Dublin, and later a Fullbright Scholarship to the University of Michigan, paving the way for her family's citizenship in the United States.
Throughout her entire career in English teaching, she ultimately wanted to give God the glory. When asked why she thought she was the sole survivor of a car accident that took her husband's life, she often responded by saying that God kept her alive to pray. Indeed, she was a prayer warrior and a longstanding member of Broadway Community Church.
In Margaret's own words: "When I go to Heaven, I want to see my Lord Jesus first, fall at His feet, and kiss Him gratefully. I would then like to see my mother and hug her vigorously for her great love for us. Then, I would like to see my uncle and thank him for how he was a refuge and a shelter for me and my sisters and brother when we needed comfort, assurance, and love. And of course, Alfy, who loved me so much."
Although Margaret's time embodying a prayer warrior and intercessor has come to a triumphant end, she would beckon us to carry on her life's devotion - praying for one another. Let us celebrate and always remember the servant and friend she was to each and every one of us.
To God Be The Glory!
A Celebration of Life for Margaret will be held Sunday, July 21, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Broadway Community Church at 3309 Broadway, Fort Myers, FL 33901.
