It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved sister and aunt, Marta Alejandra Galvan. She was born on November 15, 1957, in Alamo, Texas, to Bernardo Galvan and Tomasa Chavez Galvan. On January 12, 2026, Marta left this earth to join her parents and her baby sister, Magdalia Samantha Galvan, alongside our Heavenly Father.
Marta leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving siblings: Eduardo Galvan of Lehigh Acres, FL; Maria Luisa Galvan of Lehigh Acres, FL; Celia Galvan Jimenez of Immokalee, FL; Bernardo Galvan Jr of Lehigh Acres, FL; Graciela Galvan of Lehigh Acres, FL; Imelda Gonzales (Augustine) of Immokalee, FL; and Dora Canales (Rosendo Sr.) of Lehigh Acres, FL. Although Marta had no biological children of her own, she was a mother figure to many nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
Marta may not have had an Ivy League education, but she was wiser than most. She labored in the fields and, through determination and hard work, eventually worked her way into the education system. She was employed by Collier County Public Schools as a bus driver and bus attendant before retiring approximately eight years ago.
She will be remembered for her strong will and stubbornness, but most of all for her generous and loving heart. Marta did not have much, yet she would give all she had without reserve or expectation of anything in return. She became the family matriarch and guiding force for us all.
Marta will also be fondly remembered as the family disciplinarian and an exceptional cook. Her “salad potato,” tamales, and menudo will forever be missed. She touched many lives, and her absence leaves a space that cannot be filled—a light extinguished far too soon.
A memorial Mass in her honor will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Lehigh Acres, Florida, with Father Michal Szyszka officiating. Inurnment will follow at Lee Memorial Park in Lehigh Acres, where she will be laid to rest alongside her parents and sister. A celebration of life reception will immediately follow at 1201 Broad St. N., Lehigh Acres, FL.
